Ghana Police Arrest Two in Walewale for Stealing Immigration Officer’s Pistol and Ammunition

The Ghana Police Service in Walewale, North East Region, has arrested two young men, Mohammed Basit (18) and Baba Rasid (22), for stealing a pistol and ammunition belonging to an immigration officer.

According to a press release dated May 19, 2025, the suspects broke into the officer’s room around 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, while he was away. They made away with a Smith and Wesson pistol loaded with 10 rounds, and two CZ rifle magazines, each loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition.

Acting on intelligence, police tracked and arrested the suspects at Kperiga, a suburb of Walewale, where the stolen weapons were found hidden in a stationary vehicle.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to be arraigned before court.
