Ghana Police Arrest 16 Individuals for UTV Studio Invasion

The studios of UTV in Accra became the center of chaos as 16 individuals, believed to be affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), reportedly invaded the premises on the evening of October 7, 2023. The incident occurred just hours before the scheduled #UnitedShowbiz program.

According to preliminary reports, the group of intruders, who have been described as “thugs” by witnesses, claimed their motive was to confront Kwame A Plus and other guests on the show. Their anger was reportedly fueled by allegations of insults directed towards the President and Vice President of Ghana.

Ghana Police Service swiftly responded to the situation and managed to apprehend all 16 individuals involved in the invasion. Investigations are currently underway to determine the precise reasons behind their actions and to identify any potential instigators.

My Idolo, the NPP Communications Director, has come forward to address the situation. He clarified that the NPP did not officially send anyone to disrupt the program and emphasized that they are confident in the Ghana Police Service’s ability to thoroughly investigate the matter.
