The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has begun investigating claims of a patient allegedly being abandoned in a bush at Gomoa Ojobi in the Central Region.
Reports surfaced on Thursday, June 13, along with a video showing a woman wrapped in sheets, purportedly left in a bush. Social media speculated that an ambulance from the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba was responsible for the abandonment.
In response, GHS issued a statement, signed by Director-General Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye on Friday, June 14, confirming the launch of an investigation to verify the claims. The statement stressed that the investigation would follow standard public service protocols, urging the public to remain patient while the facts are ascertained. GHS pledged to take necessary actions based on the findings of the investigation.

RE: PATIENT ALLEGEDLY ABANDONED IN A BUSH AT GOMOA OJOBI
The leadership of the Ghana Health Service has been alerted to media reports about a patient allegedly abandoned in a bush at Gomoa Ojobi in the Central Region. According to these reports, the patient was admitted to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba. After her relatives failed to appear, she was reportedly transported in the hospital’s ambulance and left in a wheelchair at Ojobi, where she claimed to be from, and was later found dead.
Upon receiving this alarming information, the Service has initiated an investigation to determine the truth of the matter, in accordance with existing public service practices, to enable appropriate actions to be taken.
The Service appeals to the general public to remain patient as the investigation proceeds. Any individuals found to be involved in this unfortunate incident will face severe consequences in line with the Service’s Code of Conduct.
