Ghana Fined $15,000 by CAF Disciplinary Board for Fan Clash in AFCON Match

In the aftermath of the Africa Cup of Nations Match 4 encounter between Ghana and Cape Verde on January 14, 2024, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has levied a $15,000 fine on the Ghana Football Association. The penalty stems from a scuffle involving two groups of Ghanaian supporters during halftime at stand N°18, with tear gas deployed during the incident, according to the Safety and Security Official’s report.

The Disciplinary Board’s decision followed a thorough examination of all facts, allegations, legal arguments, and evidence presented during the proceedings. The Ghana Football Association is required to settle the fine within 60 days from the date of the decision.
