
Ghana has successfully evacuated all its embassy staff from Iran following escalating security concerns in the country.
Foreign Affairs Minister, , announced on Monday, March 2, 2026, that the evacuation exercise had been completed and that all Ghanaian diplomats were safe and in high spirits.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Ablakwa also disclosed that Ghana’s embassy in Iran has been closed sine die.
“The safety, welfare, and protection of Ghanaians remains our utmost priority in these tempestuous times,” he stated.
The move comes amid heightened tensions in Iran after coordinated military strikes were reportedly launched on February 28, 2026, by the and against . The strikes, according to international media reports, targeted Iranian military infrastructure, leadership compounds, and strategic sites, marking a significant escalation in long-standing disputes over Iran’s nuclear programme, missile development, and regional influence.
