The Ministry of Interior has officially declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as statutory public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebrations across Ghana.
The announcement covers Good Friday on April 3, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and Easter Monday on April 6, which continues the celebrations following the resurrection.
Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, urged the public to observe the holidays in accordance with the law while reflecting on their spiritual significance.
Easter festivities in Ghana traditionally include church services, family gatherings, and social events. Popular destinations like Kwahu are expected to attract large crowds for the annual celebrations.
The statutory holiday declaration ensures that Christians nationwide have the opportunity to commemorate one of the most significant periods on the Christian calendar.
