GFA to Face Parliamentary Committee Hearing Today

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to appear before the Parliamentary Select Committee for Sports, Culture, and Tourism today. The hearing, chaired by South Tongu MP Wisdom Woyome, will focus on issues related to Ghana’s participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the development of accommodation facilities for national teams at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

The GFA is expected to address criticisms, including former Black Stars player Derek Boateng’s recent comments accusing the association of prioritizing money over player welfare.

This hearing follows the earlier appearances of Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, who revealed that Ghana’s AFCON contingent spent $3 million despite not securing a single win, and the National Sports Authority (NSA), which discussed the poor management of stadia, including the withdrawal of CAF approval for Baba Yara Stadium to host international games.
