The funeral took place at the Heroes Park, Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, drawing dignitaries and football stakeholders.

Accompanying Okraku were GFA Vice President Mark Addo, Executive Council Members James Kwesi Appiah and Frederick Acheampong, and several prominent figures in the football community. The Interim Management Committee Chairman of Kotoko, Nana Apinkra Awuah, led Kotoko’s delegation, with former Kotoko head coach Maxwell Konadu and ex-Board Chairman Kwame Kyei also in attendance.

Nana Pooley tragically lost his life in February 2025 following a stabbing incident during violent clashes at a Ghana Premier League (GPL) match between Kotoko and Nsoatreman in Nsoatre. His death prompted a suspension of GPL matches and led to meetings between the GFA and the Ghana Police Service to enhance security measures at league venues.

The GPL is set to resume this weekend, with Kotoko scheduled to play against Legon Cities on Sunday, March 9, at the Baba Yara Stadium. The football community remains committed to ensuring safety at match venues and preventing similar tragedies.
