Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has delivered a stern message to Black Stars players following their lackluster start in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The national team has struggled with a 1-0 defeat to Angola and a 1-1 draw against Niger in Kumasi.
During a team meeting on Tuesday, Okraku criticized the players for their lack of energy and commitment on the field, emphasizing the need for greater passion and desire. He expressed disappointment with their performance, stating, “The minimum I expect, the minimum Ghana expects, is a team that shows passion and desire to play for our country. It’s either you decide to die for Ghana or you won’t be selected.”
Okraku reminded the players of the pride associated with wearing the national jersey, urging them to fight for the country with determination. The Black Stars are set to face Sudan in a crucial match at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 10, followed by a return leg against Libya on October 14.
As the team prepares for these important games, the GFA president’s message is clear: only those ready to give their all will be considered for future selections.
