The Ghana Football Association (GFA) remains optimistic about Otto Addo’s ability to lead the Black Stars to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Henry Asante Twum, the GFA’s Communications Director, addressed the criticism surrounding the current technical team during an interview on Asempa FM’s *Ultimate Sports Show*. He acknowledged the disappointment over the AFCON qualifiers but expressed unwavering confidence in Otto Addo and his coaching staff.
“Otto Addo guided us to the World Cup in Qatar with support from Chris Hughton, George Boateng, and Didi Dramani. Although the current team structure is different, I firmly believe that Otto and his technical staff have the capability to secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup,” Asante Twum stated.
The Black Stars’ current coaching team includes John Paintsil and Joseph Laumann as assistant coaches, with Fatau Dauda serving as the goalkeeper coach.
Ghana is currently second in Group I with 9 points and is set to face Chad and Madagascar in the next round of qualifiers for the tournament, which will be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
