The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it will clear all outstanding salary arrears owed to 6,249 teaching and non-teaching staff by the end of November 2025.

Among the affected are newly recruited teachers who have reportedly gone nearly 10 months without receiving their salaries.

This development follows Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu’s disclosure that the Ministry has secured Cabinet approval for the payment.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, October 16, the Deputy Director-General of GES, Smile Gavua Dzisi, confirmed that payment processes have already commenced.

“Following the approval from Cabinet on the extension of financial clearance granted in 2024, through the sector minister, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu and his team, we have been given the green light to immediately complete the process and ensure payment of all recruited staff who are yet to be paid.

This payment will be done by the end of November 2025. These unpaid teaching and non-teaching staff of GES are about 6,249. We’re starting the process after the press conference to ensure they are paid on time,” she assured.
