President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to announce his full cabinet within 14 days, addressing concerns over delays in forming his government.
The President made this declaration during a National Muslim prayer and thanksgiving service held at the National Mosque in Kanda, Accra, on January 10. The event was attended by religious leaders, members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and other dignitaries.
This announcement follows comments by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who criticized Mahama’s gradual approach to appointing ministers, labeling it as a “tot-tot” strategy.
In response, Mahama emphasized the importance of careful deliberation in assembling a capable and effective team to govern the country.
“Government is being formed, ministers will be put in place, and other officials will be appointed. As I said, we will have our full cabinet in 14 days,” Mahama stated.
The President also urged NDC supporters to remain patient and avoid actions that could undermine the government’s efforts. He highlighted the lessons learned from the mistakes of the previous administration.
“Let us do things in an orderly manner. Many have said this is the same thing the NPP said when they came into 2017. That is why Ghanaians have voted them out. We must not copy the mistakes they made,” Mahama said.
Mahama’s remarks reinforced his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability while striving to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
The President’s full cabinet is expected to reflect a mix of experience, expertise, and diversity, aimed at addressing pressing national issues and driving economic and social development.
