Four individuals arrested in connection with violent disturbances at Osei Tutu Senior High School in Akropong, Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality, have been granted bail totaling GH¢60,000 by the Abuakwa Circuit Court.
The suspects, Samuel Aloo (21), a mechanic; Abukari Sadik (24), a butcher; Andrews Boateng (27), a second-hand goods dealer; and Emmanuel Gariba (20), a tricycle rider, were each granted GH¢15,000 bail with one surety after pleading not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime and rioting. The case was presided over by Judge Jephthah Appau.
They are scheduled to reappear in court on October 17, 2025.
According to the prosecution, led by Police Detective Inspector Alexander Agbekpornu, the incident stemmed from a clash between Esaase youth and students of Osei Tutu SHS over an alleged mobile phone theft. Tensions escalated on August 27, when the suspects and other youths attempted to storm the school, reportedly threatening to burn down a hostel.
Students, in response, blocked the Akropong–Esaase road in front of the school and pelted the advancing group with stones to prevent their entry. Police quickly intervened, arresting four suspects while others managed to flee.
Following investigations, the accused were charged and put before the court.
