Three former senior officials of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), including the immediate past Commissioner-General, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, have been arrested by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in connection with the controversial Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) contracts.
The other two officials in custody are Dr. Isaac Crentsil and Christian Tetteh Sottie, both of whom previously held top positions within the GRA.
In a statement issued by the OSP, the arrests form part of a broader investigation into alleged corruption and related offences regarding contracts signed between the GRA and SML for revenue assurance services. The investigation is also scrutinizing claims by SML that its services have helped save the nation significant revenue losses.
The arrests come amid heightened public and political pressure over the SML contracts, which critics say may have involved financial mismanagement and irregularities in procurement and implementation.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor has assured the public of a thorough and transparent probe, as calls intensify for accountability and reform within state revenue mobilization agencies.
