A five-month-old baby girl was tragically killed in Bawku after attackers forcibly took her from her mother and smashed her to the ground.
The baby’s mother, who had gone out to trade, was reportedly tracked down, brutally beaten, and had her child forcefully taken before the horrific act was committed.
This latest incident adds to the ongoing violence in Bawku and along the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway, pushing the death toll to 55 since the conflict reignited in October 2024.
Despite security forces working to contain the violence and protect travelers, armed assailants continue to carry out deadly attacks, leaving residents and commuters in fear.
The escalating conflict has raised concerns over the effectiveness of current security measures and the need for urgent intervention.
