The Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has presented a GH¢68.1 billion Expenditure in Advance of Appropriation to Parliament, aimed at covering the government’s essential expenditures for the first quarter of 2025.
This mini-budget is a transitional measure to ensure the smooth functioning of government operations while awaiting the full budget from the incoming administration for the remainder of the year.
The allocation will cater to critical areas such as public sector salaries, statutory obligations, infrastructure maintenance, and funding for social intervention programs.
The presentation of the mini-budget aligns with constitutional requirements designed to prevent fiscal disruptions during a government transition year.
Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Asiamah Amoako has referred the document to the Budget and Finance Committees for detailed scrutiny. These committees will review the policies and figures before submitting their recommendations to the House for debate and approval.
Parliament is expected to reconvene later today, January 2, for Dr. Amin Adam to formally present the budget, after which discussions and deliberations will begin.
