In a significant development for Ghanaian football, FIFA President Gianni Infantino welcomed President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to the FIFA Offices in Paris. The meeting, initiated by Infantino, focused on the advancement of football in Ghana and across the African continent.
Infantino expressed his pleasure at meeting with Simeon-Okraku, highlighting the positive atmosphere of the discussions. Simeon-Okraku thanked Infantino for the invitation and support, noting the alignment of FIFA’s vision with that of the GFA.
“FIFA, under President Infantino’s leadership, has been pivotal in supporting football development, particularly in Africa. Our conversation today reaffirmed our shared vision for the growth of the sport,” Simeon-Okraku said.
He also reflected on the progress made since his tenure began in 2019, citing the revival of national competitions, increased youth engagement, and the return of the Black Stars to the World Cup in Qatar.
Simeon-Okraku praised FIFA’s ongoing support, particularly through initiatives like the FIFA Forward program, and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to enhance the development of football in Ghana. He acknowledged the contributions of FIFA officials in Senegal, expressing gratitude for their assistance.
