Ghanaian forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2023/24 football season following knee surgery. The Leicester City star sustained the injury during Ghana’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola, where he was substituted at halftime after experiencing discomfort in his knee.
The Ghana Football Association confirmed that Fatawu suffered “significant issues with his knee,” which led to his absence in Ghana’s subsequent match against Niger.
In a post on his Instagram page, the 20-year-old provided an update on his condition, expressing gratitude and optimism:
“All glory be to Almighty Allah. My surgery was successful and I just want to tell you that I am okay and I am feeling good. I want to thank everyone for your best wishes.”
Fatawu has been a key figure for Leicester City this season, contributing two assists in 11 league appearances. His absence will be a significant blow for both club and country as he embarks on his recovery journey.
