The cherished figure in Ghana’s culinary scene, Auntie Imoro Muniratu, famously known as Auntie Muni, has tragically passed away at the age of 72. Her family confirmed the sad news, revealing that she succumbed to a brief illness at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra on Wednesday, January 3.
Auntie Muni, renowned for her iconic waakye joint at Labone junction in Accra, was known for the perpetual queues that formed outside her eatery. Alhassan Abdul Arafat, Auntie Muni’s son, shared that her health had been a concern, leading to her initial admission at the SSNIT Hospital.
Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated, prompting a decision for discharge. Recognizing the severity, she was swiftly rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for further medical attention. Regrettably, despite efforts, she passed away at 3 am.
