Failure to Sack Sammy Gyamfi will Undermine Code of Conduct – Elvis Darko

Editor of the Newscenta Newspaper, Elvis Darko, has urged President John Mahama to dismiss Sammy Gyamfi, Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, to uphold the credibility of the newly launched Code of Conduct for presidential appointees.

His statement comes after a viral video showed Gyamfi giving an undisclosed amount of U.S. dollars to controversial evangelist and former fetish priestess Nana Agradaa. Despite Gyamfi’s public apology describing the donation as a private act of kindness, public outrage persists.

Darko described the incident as a defining moment for Mahama’s leadership, warning that failure to take action could weaken the code’s enforcement and set a dangerous precedent. He also cautioned that selective application could cause internal conflict within the ruling NDC.

“This is the president’s first test. If he fails to act, future breaches may be excused with mere apologies,” Darko stated.

The Chief of Staff has summoned Gyamfi for questioning as calls intensify for decisive action in line with the code’s integrity and transparency standards.
