Sars (Special Anti-Robbery Squad) established in 1992, is a part of the Nigerian Police Force, a branch under the Force Criminal Investigative and Intelligent Department(FCIID).
The Squad was created after a Nigerian Army Colonel was killed by the Police at a checkpoint in Lagos and the purpose of the Squad was to deal with deal with crimes associated with firearms, armed robbery, kidnapping, car snatching, and cattle rustling.
