Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for Ahafo Ano South West, has been officially declared the winner of the parliamentary election following a court-mandated recount of votes.
The recount, conducted under the supervision of the Electoral Commission (EC), confirmed Dapaah’s victory with 16,680 votes. His closest contender, Sedik Abubakar of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), closely trailed with 16,540 votes, making it one of the most tightly contested elections in the constituency’s history.
The recount was prompted by concerns raised by the NDC over alleged irregularities in the initial collation process. These claims heightened tensions within the constituency, as both parties demanded a transparent and fair resolution to the dispute.
The official confirmation of results brings an end to the controversy, solidifying Dapaah’s position as the Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South West.
