Electricity Company of Ghana Donates 200 Motorbikes to Boost Police Visibility

The Ghana Police Service has received a significant boost to its operations with the donation of 200 motorbikes from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). This move aims to enhance police visibility nationwide and support their general duties.

During a brief ceremony at the police headquarters in Accra, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare received the keys to the motorbikes along with helmets. The gesture marks part of the ECG’s pledge to contribute a total of 1,000 motorbikes to the Police Administration in successive batches.

Keli Gadzekpo, the Board Chairman of ECG, emphasized that this support acknowledges and appreciates the diligent work of police officers, particularly in safeguarding ECG officials during their operations nationwide. He highlighted the frequent attacks encountered by ECG workers while executing their duties, emphasizing the need for increased security measures.

Acknowledging the importance of enhanced police visibility, Gadzekpo emphasized that this gesture aimed to bolster the police force, especially with the approaching festive period, as increased visibility is expected to serve as a deterrent to criminal activities.

Samuel Dubik Masubir Mahama, the Managing Director of ECG, commended the police service for their continuous support and assured ongoing collaboration between the company and the police force.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Police Administration, Dr. Dampare emphasized the government’s unwavering support and commitment to improving the police service’s performance. He underscored that the ECG’s support complemented the government’s efforts, marking a new era of partnership between the two essential emergency service providers.
