Electoral Commission is Not Ready for December Elections – NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns about the readiness of the Electoral Commission (EC) for the upcoming December 07 elections, citing perceived delays in preparations.

Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC, expressed these concerns in an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM. Dr. Tanko-Computer noted that with only 8 months left until the elections, the EC has yet to release a calendar outlining key activities for the polls.

According to Dr. Tanko-Computer, the absence of a calendar hampers the preparation process for all concerned parties, including the procurement of electoral materials. He emphasized the importance of transparency in the electoral process and urged the EC to provide clarity on important aspects such as the registration process and nomination timelines.

“I must say this current EC appears not ready for the December 7 elections,” Dr. Tanko-Computer stated, highlighting the need for the EC to release a calendar as soon as possible to allow for proper organization by stakeholders.
