The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is set to launch a nationwide initiative, “Operation Keep the Lights On,” starting from January 15 to January 31, 2025. The operation, which will cover all ECG operational areas, is aimed at recovering outstanding arrears, inspecting prepaid meters, and ensuring compliance with disconnection regulations.

ECG has emphasized the importance of the public’s cooperation in this exercise, reminding customers that self-reconnection is illegal under Legislative Instrument (LI) 2413. As part of the initiative, the company will be enforcing strict disconnection protocols and conducting thorough inspections of installations to address any unauthorized reconnections.

To streamline operations during the period, ECG’s regional and district offices will offer only limited essential services. The company is urging customers to comply with the regulations and support the effort to maintain efficient and reliable electricity service across the country.
