Samuel Dubik Mahama, the Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has officially resigned from his position, as confirmed by Citi News. In a resignation letter addressed to ECG’s Board Chairman, Mahama stated that his decision was based on personal reasons.
Mahama expressed gratitude to the ECG Board, the President, and others who supported him during his tenure, which spanned over two years and four months. He took office on May 16, 2022, after being appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
His resignation has surprised many within the energy sector. However, details surrounding his departure remain unclear, with no further comment from ECG or government officials. Before his role as Managing Director, Mahama had significant experience in both private and public sectors, including positions at GIHOC Distilleries and Wilkins Engineering.
Mahama is also a legal practitioner and an alumnus of the University of Ghana.
