The Electoral Commission (EC) will on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, meet all political parties contesting the upcoming Akwatia by-election to review their preparedness and outline key modalities for the polls.

The by-election, scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, follows the death of Ernest Kumi, the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, after a short illness.

Addressing journalists in Akwatia on Monday, August 25, the EC’s Eastern Regional Director, Joe Appiah Baffoe, assured stakeholders of a transparent and credible process.
