The Electoral Commission (EC) has postponed all District Assembly and Unit Committee by-elections until further notice.

In a notice dated November 3, 2025, the Commission informed the public that the elections, which were scheduled for November 11, have been put on hold. The announcement, signed by Fred Tetteh, Deputy Director of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, did not give a reason for the delay. The EC assured that new dates will be communicated once arrangements are finalised.

The by-elections were meant to fill vacancies created by the death or resignation of Assembly and Unit Committee Members, as outlined under the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended by Act 940.

Some key areas included Ablekuma Central, Adenta, Cape Coast, Mfantseman, Jomoro, Sekondi-Takoradi, Asuogyaman, Suhum, Obuasi Municipal, Offinso North, Keta, and Ho.

The EC said the full list of affected electoral areas and polling stations is available at its district offices and online.
