EC Conducts Special Voting in 14 Regions Today

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana is conducting Special Voting today, Monday, December 2, across 14 regions, excluding the Eastern and Western Regions. This exercise allows security personnel, media practitioners, and election officials assigned to work during the December 7 general elections to cast their votes early.

Approximately 131,478 voters, representing 0.007% of the 18,741,159 registered electorate, are expected to participate.

The Eastern and Western Regions are excluded due to a breach of security seals on their ballot papers. Special Voting for these regions has been rescheduled to Thursday, December 5, following a reprint of the affected ballots.

Votes cast during Special Voting will not be counted immediately. Instead, they will be tallied on December 7 at Constituency Collation Centres, alongside the main election results. The results will be recorded separately for Presidential and Parliamentary contests before being merged with totals from other polling stations.

The EC has urged all stakeholders to remain calm and cooperate, reaffirming its dedication to a free, fair, and credible election.
