The Electoral Commission (EC) has cleared 13 candidates to contest in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Nine of the candidates represent political parties, while four are running as independent candidates.
Among those disqualified from the race is Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Janet Nabla, an independent aspirant, and Kofi Asamoah Siaw of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).
The filing window for nominations, which ran from September 9 to September 13, 2024, saw a total of 24 presidential aspirants submit their nomination forms to the EC, with 12 from political parties and 12 as independent candidates.
Following a rigorous review of the nomination forms, the EC announced that 13 candidates had met the legal requirements to contest the December 7 general election. The disqualified aspirants, including Mornah, were unable to fulfill the necessary conditions.
