The Odumase Police Command has launched an investigation into a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two young men on the Oterkporlu-Odumase road.

The deceased, Wisdom Gbli Horla, 24, a final-year Computer Science student at the University of Ghana, and his cousin Benedict Gbli, were both active members of the Blockbusters Volleyball Team in Asesewa, Eastern Region.

Reports indicate that the pair were traveling by motorcycle to a volleyball match at Odumase. They chose not to join the team bus that had been arranged for the team.

The fatal crash occurred at Ayemersu when the two attempted to overtake a pickup truck ahead of them but veered into the lane of an oncoming tipper truck loaded with limestone from the Odugblase mines.

Due to the heavy load and the winding nature of the road, the tipper truck driver, whose vehicle bears the registration number GS 521-23, was unable to avoid the collision, resulting in the instant death of the two.

Officers from the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) at the Odumase Police Command arrived at the scene to manage traffic and assisted in conveying the bodies to the St. Martin de Porres Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
