The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has taken a significant step by phasing out the old manual system of vehicle registration and related services, shifting to a digital framework for enhanced efficiency and security.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the DVLA highlighted its commitment to eradicating identity theft and false representation in service provision. To achieve this goal, all vehicle registration-related services have been migrated to a digital platform accessible through the online portal (online.dvla.gov.gh).
Moreover, the DVLA emphasized the mandatory use of the National Identity Card for identity verification, aligning with the National Identity Register Regulations of 2012. Consequently, only the National Identification Card will be accepted for identity verification in all DVLA services.
The verification process can be conducted either in person at any DVLA office or remotely via the mobile application “DVLA verify,” available for download on Google Play or Apple Store.
The DVLA urged registered vehicle owners to visit any of its offices to authenticate their vehicle records and undergo biometric identity verification. This step aims to bolster security measures, ensure traceability, accountability, and significantly enhance customer experience, fostering increased productivity.
This strategic transition to a digital platform underscores the DVLA’s commitment to modernize and streamline processes, leveraging technology to fortify security protocols and elevate service standards for all stakeholders.
