In a bid to clear the air surrounding the financial rewards associated with their participation in the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup, Dreams FC has released a statement outlining the prize money structure for the competition.
According to the management of Dreams FC, the club is entitled to a participation fee of $400,000 (subject to statutory deductions) upon qualifying for the group stage of the tournament, as confirmed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The statement further clarifies that the financial rewards for subsequent progress in the competition are cumulative. For instance, the $550,000 announced for quarter-finalists is an addition of $150,000 to the amount secured for qualification into the group stage. Similarly, the $750,000 for progressing into the semi-finals is an additional $200,000 to the previous stage’s earnings.
Therefore, Dreams FC stands to receive $400,000 for reaching the quarter-finals and $750,000 for reaching the semi-finals, contrary to some reports that had stated otherwise. It’s emphasized that all financial entitlements will be disbursed at the end of the competition, after all statutory deductions have been made.
Management of Dreams FC reiterated their commitment to securing positive results, especially in their upcoming match against Stade Malien in Kumasi on Sunday. They also urged Ghanaian football fans to show their support by filling the Baba Yara Stadium for the crucial fixture.
