Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam Appointed New CEO of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital

Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam has officially assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), taking over from Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah whose tenure ended in October 2024.

Dr. Adam’s appointment, effective Tuesday, May 6, 2025, follows an interim leadership period under Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere, the hospital’s Director of Medical Affairs.

With over 20 years of dedicated service at KBTH, Dr. Adam joined the institution in 2003 as a Consultant Eye Surgeon with a focus on glaucoma, cataract, and refractive surgery. He has since risen through the ranks, notably leading the Lions International Eye Centre since 2017 and elevating it to regional prominence.

A seasoned medical professional, Dr. Adam is a Fellow of the Ghana College of Surgeons and holds memberships in the Ophthalmological Society of Ghana, the Turkish Ophthalmology Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. His extensive clinical research portfolio includes several publications in top-tier local and international journals.

As CEO, Dr. Adam is expected to drive the hospital’s core agenda of delivering high-quality healthcare, advancing medical research, and training the next generation of health professionals. His leadership comes at a crucial time as KBTH pursues key strategic initiatives, including the ambitious Legacy Project aimed at modernizing healthcare services in Ghana.

Sharing his vision for the hospital, Dr. Adam affirmed, “Together, we can build a better Korle Bu,” highlighting the importance of collaboration in transforming healthcare delivery.
