Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, a renowned spiritual leader, has shared a heartfelt moment between Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and former President John Mahama. According to Dr. Tetteh, Shatta Wale approached him on a flight to London on Saturday, April 27, expressing deep regret for past disparaging remarks he made about Mahama.
Dr. Tetteh recounted how Shatta Wale, overwhelmed with guilt, asked for his help in facilitating an apology to Mahama, who happened to be on the same flight.
Moved by Shatta Wale’s sincerity, Dr. Tetteh accompanied him to Mahama, where Shatta Wale knelt before the former president, seeking forgiveness for his past comments. Mahama, displaying grace and humor, forgave Shatta Wale, acknowledging his bold step in seeking reconciliation.
Dr. Tetteh praised Shatta Wale’s humility and called on the youth to emulate such respect for national leaders. Shatta Wale expressed gratitude to Dr. Tetteh, revealing that he had struggled for four years to find the courage to apologize to Mahama.
“This is the spirit that I expect us as a nation to do. In fact, Shatta Wale won my respect. This is the spirit I want us as young people to inculcate, whether it is John Mahama, or Nana Addo Dankwa or Kufuor, sorry I’ve not called them by titles, but all of them, his excellencies, respect them. Let’s put a value on our leaders, and if you make a mistake, go back and say sorry,” Dr. Tetteh said during a GTV interview on Thursday, May 2.
