Donald Trump Declares Victory, Addresses Jubilant Supporters: ‘We Made History’

Donald Trump has declared victory in the U.S. presidential election, addressing cheering supporters in Florida with the words, “We made history.” In his speech, Trump celebrated what he called an “unprecedented and powerful mandate” given by the American people, following projected wins in key battleground states such as Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia. These crucial victories leave Kamala Harris with limited paths to secure the presidency.

Trump’s declaration came shortly after Fox News projected him as the winner of the election, though other major networks have not yet confirmed this outcome. Trump, 78, thanked his supporters, promising to fight for the future of American families and claimed this election would usher in a “golden age of America.” For the first time, he also claimed to have won the popular vote, describing it as a “great feeling of love.”

With several states still counting votes, Vice President Kamala Harris has postponed addressing her supporters until later. Her campaign chair, Cedric Richmond, announced to waiting crowds at Howard University that Harris would speak once every vote is counted. Many Harris supporters, initially hopeful for a historic night, left with a somber mood as results began to show a swing toward Trump in critical states.

Trump’s speech included a pledge to crack down on illegal immigration and noted his gratitude for what he believes was divine intervention in his life, saying, “Many people have told me that God has spared my life for a reason… to save our country and restore America to greatness.”

The Republicans are also projected to have taken back the Senate, adding further weight to what Trump described as a “magnificent victory for the American people.”
