An Accra High Court has scheduled December 4, 2024, to deliver its judgment in the case involving Daniel Asiedu, also known as Sexy Don Don, who is accused of murdering former Member of Parliament J.B. Danquah Adu.
Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, a Court of Appeal judge with additional High Court responsibilities, will preside over the ruling following the closing arguments from the prosecution and defense.
During the trial, Principal State Attorney Sefakor Batsa led the prosecution, which argued that Asiedu’s DNA was found in the late MP’s residence and on items linked to the crime, including a red hat discovered on the property of Abigail Marfo, a witness. Asiedu denied these claims, asserting that his DNA was not involved and that the police had fabricated evidence against him.
The accused also alleged that multiple police statements attributed to him were coerced, maintaining that he had only provided one statement. Asiedu rejected claims that he had stolen mobile phones from the deceased, asserting that the police obtained the phones from another individual.
Asiedu admitted to having his name tattooed on his body but denied any involvement in the stabbing of J.B. Danquah Adu on February 8, 2016. He pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder, claiming he had no grievances with the deceased.
The seven-member jury questioned Asiedu about various details, including his presence at the crime scene and the alleged evidence collected. While acknowledging blood on his hands from a prior head injury, Asiedu stated he could not confirm the presence of security cameras at the deceased’s residence due to the stress of the situation.
Asiedu’s alleged accomplice, Vincent Bossu (Junior Agogo), was acquitted of conspiracy earlier in the trial after the court found insufficient evidence to proceed against him.
