The Cape Coast High Court has awarded GHS 700,000 in damages to Assin South MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour in a defamation case against Stephen Cobbah (Adepa) and Yaw Korankye (Ampong).

The lawsuit stemmed from defamatory remarks made on the “Assinman Politics Gh” WhatsApp platform in March 2024. Rev. Fordjour sought GHS 1 million in damages, a retraction, an apology, and a perpetual injunction.

On April 28, 2025, the court ruled that the statements were indeed defamatory. In addition to the damages, each defendant was ordered to pay GHS 20,000 in costs. The court also imposed a perpetual injunction preventing further defamatory publications and instructed the defendants to issue written apologies and retractions on all platforms where the comments had circulated.
