A young couple, 24-year-old Abena Benewa and 26-year-old Bright Ashiao, has been arrested at Awutu Bontrase for allegedly killing their three-day-old baby in a suspected money ritual.
The incident came to light after residents discovered the body of the infant at a refuse dump in the community and began searching for those responsible.
Reports say the couple claimed the baby had been pronounced dead at birth by a traditional birth attendant in Bontrase. However, they were unable to clearly explain the condition of the child’s body.
After questioning the suspects, residents handed them over to the Ghana Police Service at the Awutu Beraku District Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
