Collation of Ablekuma North Results Suspended Over Discrepancies

The Electoral Commission (EC) has indefinitely suspended the collation of parliamentary election results for the Ablekuma North constituency in the Greater Accra Region due to discrepancies in figures from 20 polling stations.

Out of the constituency’s 62 polling stations, results from 42 have been successfully validated, leaving 20 still under review. The returning officer has requested an additional 24 hours to verify the figures before declaring the winner of the December 7, 2024, election.

This delay follows disputes between the two main political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), over the outcome of the seat. The NPP escalated the matter to court, prompting the EC to revisit the collation process.

While Ablekuma North remains unresolved, the EC has successfully completed collation in other constituencies, including Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, and Techiman South, with all three seats being secured by the NPP.
