The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has ended its strike after a fruitful meeting with government officials. The talks, held on Friday, July 12, 2024, included representatives from the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).
In a statement, CLOGSAG noted that both sides showed a strong commitment to resolving ongoing issues regarding the salary structure for civil service and local government employees.
“The Government of Ghana, represented by the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), and the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) met on 12th July, 2024.
“Both parties showed commitment towards the resolution of pertinent issues relating to the salary structure for the Staff of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service.”
CLOGSAG reported that the government has promised to finalize the salary structure by October 31, 2024, with implementation set for January 1, 2025.
Following this agreement, CLOGSAG has decided to call off the strike immediately.
