Chris Hughton Releases 55-Man Provisional Squad for Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire 2023

Chris Hughton, the coach, has revealed a preliminary squad of 55 players set to represent Ghana at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire 2023. Among them, Premier League Champions Medeama SC showcase their strength with five notable players making the cut: Hamidu Abdul Fatawu, Felix Kyei, Abdulai Nurudeen, Jonathan Sowah, and Derrick Fordjour.

Homegrown talents also get their chance, with players like Emmanuel Antwi and Benjamin Asare from Accra Great Olympics, John Antwi and Godfred Atuahene from Dreams FC, Razak Simpson from Nations FC, and Richmond Lamptey from Asante Kotoko securing spots in the provisional list.

The squad boasts renowned names such as Mohammed Kudus, Joseph Wollacott, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Alexander Djiku, Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams, Thomas Partey, Abdul Samed Salis, and Majeed Ashimeru. Of particular note is AS Monaco’s Mohammed Salisu, who hasn’t featured for Ghana since the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 due to injury but is named in the provisional squad.

Drawn into Group B alongside Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde, the Black Stars are gearing up for an intense battle in the Africa Cup of Nations Cote D’Ivoire 2023.
