Chief Petitions Interior Minister, IGP to Probe Senior Police Officers

Nana Kwabena Asante I, the Chief of Aboso, has formally petitioned the Minister of the Interior, Henry Quartey, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, calling for an investigation into the conduct of three senior officers in the Western Central Regional Police Command.

The petition, dated September 3, 2024, and co-signed by Queen Mother Nana Akosua Akomaso and other community leaders, highlights concerns about the actions of the Western Central Regional Police Commander, the Tarkwa Divisional Police Commander, and Chief Inspector Joseph Bosman Amoako of the Aboso Police.

The chief’s complaint centers around two key grievances. First, the officers are accused of supporting “miscreants and non-indigenous groups” in efforts to install a rival chief in Aboso, in violation of the recognized traditional authority. Second, the Western Central Regional Police Commander has allegedly verbally abused traditional leaders, with legal action being threatened if such conduct continues.

The petition, submitted to the Ministry of the Interior and the IGP on September 11, 2024, urges immediate intervention to prevent further escalation, with the chief expressing commitment to maintaining peace in the community.
