Chief of Staff Leads Delegation to Receive Bodies of Helicopter Crash Victims

On the night of Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, led a high-ranking government delegation to receive the remains of eight individuals who tragically lost their lives in the recent military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District.

The solemn event took place at the Air Force Base in Accra, where the bodies—transported from the crash site—arrived under heavy military presence and somber national reflection.

The coffins, draped in Ghana’s national flag, were received in a moving ceremony marked by moments of silence and prayers offered for the repose of the departed souls. The delegation stood in solidarity with the grieving families and citizens, as the country continues to mourn.

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence
Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation
Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress
Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate
Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Ghana Air Force
Flight Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, Ghana Air Force
Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Ghana Air Force

The government delegation included ministers of state, top military officials, clergy members, and party executives. Notable dignitaries present were Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
