Announced on January 15, 2025, the appointment is part of President Mahama’s efforts to bolster national security. Kipo, a seasoned intelligence and security expert, will oversee NIB operations to ensure national safety and stability. President Mahama has also made additional security appointments:
- Prosper Douglas Bani has been named National Security Advisor. A former Chief of Staff and Minister for the Interior, Bani brings a wealth of expertise in governance and security.
- DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak takes on the role of National Security Coordinator, focusing on a cohesive and strategic approach to security.
- COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd.) has been appointed Director of Operations at the Presidency, leveraging his decades of service to ensure operational effectiveness in security matters.
