Tensions flared in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region on Thursday, April 24, 2025, after the President’s nominee for District Chief Executive (DCE) was rejected by the local assembly.

Samuel Azure, the newly elected Presiding Member and Assemblyman for the Kaadi Electoral Area, was reportedly assaulted shortly after the vote of no confidence. Eyewitnesses say the attack occurred in the immediate aftermath of the rejection, although the exact motives remain unclear.
