Horace Ekow Ewusi, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Cape Coast North, has petitioned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove Professor Harold S. Amonoo-Kuofi from his position as Chairman of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Governing Council. Ewusi argues that Prof. Amonoo-Kuofi’s conduct is negatively impacting the university’s operations and accuses him of pursuing a personal agenda detrimental to the institution.
In his petition, Ewusi claims that Prof. Amonoo-Kuofi’s autocratic approach and unilateral decision-making have led to conflicts with key university bodies, including the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA). Ewusi also states that the chairman’s actions have created tension and division within the university, affecting its reputation and the NPP’s support base.
Ewusi’s petition follows a notice signed by Prof. Amonoo-Kuofi on August 2, announcing the termination of Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong’s appointment as Vice-Chancellor of UCC.
