Captain Andre Ayew is poised to make a comeback to the Black Stars squad, having been absent during the previous international window. This development comes as Ghana gears up to face Madagascar and Comoros in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, according to information obtained by 3Sports.
Andre Ayew, who has been without a club since his short-term contract with Nottingham Forest expired on July 1, 2023, missed out on Ghana’s previous friendly matches against Mexico and the USA, which resulted in consecutive defeats for the team.
At 33 years of age, Ayew holds the record for the most appearances for Ghana, boasting 115 caps and 24 goals to his name.
Furthermore, 3Sports has learned that Iddrisu Baba of Almeria and Majeed Ashimeru of Anderlecht are set to receive invitations to rejoin the national team. Baba recently had a 20-minute runout during his club’s 1-0 loss to Alaves in La Liga, while Ashimeru returned to action in October following a three-month injury layoff.
Ghana, under the guidance of coach Chris Hughton, will commence their qualifying campaign by facing Madagascar on November 17 in Kumasi, followed by an away fixture against Comoros four days later.
