Bernard Anbataayela Mornah, the flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has filed a lawsuit against the Electoral Commission (EC) following his disqualification from the upcoming December 2024 presidential election. Mornah was one of 11 presidential aspirants disqualified by the EC.
The EC, led by Chairperson Jean Mensa, cited several issues with Mornah’s nomination forms, including incomplete details of supporters, the use of registered voters from one district to support nominations in other districts, and inconsistencies in signatures. These errors led the committee to disqualify Mornah.
However, Mornah argues that his disqualification is a violation of his rights and did not follow due process. In his legal challenge, he seeks a court order to compel the EC to recognize his candidacy and halt the printing of presidential ballot papers until he is reinstated as a qualified candidate for the December 7, 2024, election.
