Ghana’s football community is in mourning following the death of Berekum Chelsea player Dominic Frimpong, who died after sustaining gunshot wounds during a robbery attack on the team’s bus.
The incident occurred along the Goaso–Bibiani road near Ahyiresu in the Ahafo Region, where armed men reportedly blocked the road and opened fire on the vehicle. Players and officials were forced to flee into nearby bushes to escape the attack.
The club confirmed that Frimpong suffered severe gunshot wounds to the head and was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital for emergency treatment. He was being prepared for transfer to a higher-level facility when he passed away.
Frimpong had joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC in January for the remainder of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
He had made 13 league appearances and scored two goals, emerging as one of the promising talents in the squad before his untimely death.
